Andy and Helens garden was designed to be child friendly, low maintenance and social. The small sloped garden had a large open step built into it to make the upper space feel inviting. Raised beds were created for easy and contained maintenance of plants. A child specific play area, a storage shed and a pergola seating area were also added. This compartmentalisation of the garden helps it to feel bigger and creates 'rooms' within the garden.

Over time, evergreen climbers such as holboellia will cover the pergola, perennial plants will spread and the crab apple tree will provide cover and food for birds.
